Gopinath Sricandane is as a freelance documentary and wildlife photographer, documentation
specialist and designer currently based in Pondicherry. Graphic design work is done by TURNSTONE DESIGN which he founded in 2008.
Photography is the medium he has chosen to create awareness about social and environmental issues
that are of concern today. He also teaches Photography and Design at Pondicherry University.
Educated in Pondicherry and Delhi, he holds a M.Phil degree in French from Jawaharlal Nehru
University, New Delhi. Over the years, he has collaborated with national and international non-profit
organizations in a vast range of projects and assignments. He has more than 10 years of experience in
the publishing industry and has held positions as Photo-editor/ Photographer with leading publishing
and media houses like Oxford University Press and Outlook Magazine.
Author of the ICEF-funded publication, Kalivelli Wetlands, he is currently working on his book on
South Indian landscapes in collaboration with the French Institute of Pondicherry.
Gopinath is an avid traveller and has travelled widely in India and Nepal and enjoys learning
about new places, culture and food. A fan of classic machines, he adores old motorbikes and automobiles.
